Climate change

Climate change

For a long time, discussion about climate change, its causes, and its effects was exclusively the domain of scientists, researchers, and environmental organizations. Today, this issue has come to dominate public debate like no other, and it is a megatrend that dictates societal, social, and economic developments. The predictions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have made the world sit up and take notice. Undiminished greenhouse gas emissions are causing the average global temperature to rise, resulting in floods, heat waves, and droughts. The consumption of fossil fuels – particularly oil and coal – must therefore be reduced drastically and without delay. The principle of using finite resources economically also makes sense in terms of security of supply, costs, and our responsibility to future generations. Bosch takes the European Commission's 20/20/20 formula as its guideline, aiming to cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 20 percent, increase the share of renewable energies to 20 percent, and improve energy efficiency by 20 percent. We are demonstrating our commitment to these targets in the development of new products and in the use of energy-efficient technologies at our company.
